Mickelson has won 3 of the slams and was 2nd 6 times in the other one. He\u2019s detested by many, the Brit haters, the Liv golf diehards and many more. But he has answered them with his ability. Harrington winning the British Open and Lowry winning it were for me every bit as great.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">Thought it was refreshingly honest \u2013 was happy for mcilroy bur doesn\u2019t even make my top 20 Irosj sporting moments because eh\u2026.it\u2019s not an Irish sporting moment<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">He\u2019s not. I\u2019m delighted for him, but he\u2019s not universally popular in the same way as a Harrington or a Lowry might be. Could be a Nordie thing or he\u2019s made a few PR missteps over the years too.
